Patricia Marie Merkel of Smithfield is engaged to wed Bryan J. Hawthorne of Smithfield. A ceremony for June 21 is planned.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Bruce and Marlene Merkel of Rubles Mill Road, Smithfield.
She is a 1997 graduate of Albert Gallatin High School and will graduate in May from Duquesne University with a master’s degree in secondary education.
Her fiance’ is the son of Barry and Sharon Hawthorne of Lake Lynn Road, Lake Lynn. He is a 1996 graduate of Albert Gallatin High School and is employed with Fike’s Dairy.
