Sparkle noted that the latest donations came from Uniontown, Smithfield, Hopwood, Republic, McClellandtown, Richeyville, Farmington, Fairchance and Nemacolin. “Remember, if you make a donation, the money stays with the Salvation Army unit in your area,’ said Sparkle. “So, if you’re from Uniontown and you make a donation, that money will go to make a better Christmas for a child in the Uniontown area.’

Among those contributing were students in the sixth-grade classes at Hutchinson Elementary School in the Laurel Highlands School District. They donated money to Sparkle instead of having a gift exchange.

“We hope this donation will help those in need,’ wrote teachers Mrs. McFadden and Mr. Blasyczak in their letter to Sparkle. “We were happy to make the Christmas season brighter for families in our area.’

“Donations from children really touch my heart,’ said Sparkle. “It’s great to see that there are so many kind people out there.’

Groups and businesses that made donations included Christian Men’s Breakfast, Chi Chi’s Boarding Kennel and the Tri-State Safety Electrical Inspection Services, which made a very generous contribution.

While many donations are

made in memory of loved ones, several were also made in honor of people.

An anonymous donation was made in honor of Dr. Carey McMonagle, while Michael and Rose Garbeletto made a donation in honor of their son Michael Anthony and his classmates, the Geibel High School Class of 2003.

“It’s great when people make donations either in memory or in honor of others,’ said Sparkle. “It’s great that people take the time to make these special donations. But, however the donations are made, the fact is that time is running out and we need to raise a lot of money in a very short time.

“The time for delaying is over. We need your donation now so that all the boys and girls in this area will have a Merry Christmas,’ added Sparkle.

Donors can bring their contributions to the Herald-Standard offices in Uniontown, Connellsville and Brownsville or the Greene County Messenger office in Waynesburg by noon Monday. Donations also can be mailed to Give-A-Christmas, P.O. Box 1147, Uniontown, Pa., 15401.
