Uniontown Helfer honored by PLCB

Janice Helfer of 7 1/2 Johnson St., Uniontown, was named Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) employee of the month in October. The statewide honor comes from being recognized by peers for outstanding work.

Helfer has been with the PLCB since November 1997 as an intermittent liquor store clerk. Prior to her appointment in that role, Helfer worked as a seasonal employee during summer and winter holiday seasons from 1988 to 1997. She is currently employed at the Wine and Spirits Shoppe 2601 in Uniontown.

District 3-5 manager Ronald Kalnicky nominated Helfer for the statewide award. Kalnicky said Helfer is his “go-to’ person. “When I need someone to assist me in staffing a short-handed site or I need someone in a temporary assignment position, I know I can count on Janice to be there. Her response is always the same. She willingly gives up her days off to help.’ Helfer was also recognized for consistently exceeding standard work requirements, neatness, professionalism, enthusiasm, dedication, her pleasant smile and demeanor.

Brooks, funeral director at Brooks Funeral Home Inc.
