Monica R. Welsh
Monica R. Welsh, 89, of Dunbar, Pa., died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at home.
She was born Aug. 31, 1913, in Dunbar, Pa., daughter of the late Lawrence B. Callahan and the late Helen “Nell” Bigley Callahan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond G. Welsh in 1972; two brothers, William and Larry Callahan; and one sister, Mary Margaret Brynn.
Monica was a homemaker, and a member of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.
Surviving are the following children, Mary Ellen Sansone and husband, John of Colorado Springs, Colo., Monica Helinski and husband, William of Scottdale, Raymond G. Welsh and wife, Monika of Dunbar, Patrick Welsh of Dunbar, Barbara Pokopec of Dunbar, Virginia (Ginny) Bell of Connellsville, Judith Berry and husband, Chuck of Dale City, Va., and Christine Lauer and husband, Rod of Greeley, Colo.; sisters, Rita Corcoran of Pittsburgh, Faye Beatty of Lemont Furnace, Nell Kronz of Maryland, and Agnes Hair of Weirton, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the BURHANS-CROUSE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Connellsville St., Dunbar, Pa., today from 1 to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday from 9 to 11:30 a.m., the hour of morning prayers, in the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be held at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, in St. Aloysius R.C. Church, with the Rev. Fr. J. Edward McCullough as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited today at 4 p.m.
