No one was seriously injured Saturday when seven vehicles crashed along Route 21 near Works Road in South Union Township, after a Masontown man apparently had a seizure, state police said. According to the police report, George Advent, 57, of Masontown was traveling east along Route 21 at 6 p.m. when he had an apparent seizure, crossed lanes of traffic and struck a westbound vehicle operated by Joseph Chico, 44, of Morgantown, W.Va.

A third vehicle, driven by Adam Kelley, 26, of Point Marion swerved to avoid the accident and a passenger in his vehicle, Sherry Kelley, 31, suffered minor injuries as a result, police said.

Police said Advents’ vehicle then continued to travel east in the westbound lane, striking vehicles operated Alex Marra, 66, of Crucible; Ellen Fox, 36, of Crucible; Scott Frantz, 22, of Pittsburgh and Helen Metclaf, 37, of Uniontown.

Advents’ vehicle eventually rolled onto its side and came to rest in a turning lane facing south, police said.

According to the report, Advent, Marra, his 62-year-old wife, Rosalie, and Frantz all sustained minor injuries.

A spokesperson for the Uniontown Hospital said that the injuries were not severe, and the injured were treated at the hospital then released.
