Bertha Lewis Piper
Bertha P. Lewis Piper, age 100, of Mount Morris R. D. 1, Pa., died Thursday, December 26, 2002 at 11 p.m. at home. She was born September 11, 1902 in Uniontown, Pa., daughter of Charles Lewis and Anna Samsull Lewis.
Bertha was a Housewife and a member of Church of God in High House, Pa.
Her husband, John J. Piper, son, Edger Piper, daughter, Viola Loy, brothers, Earl, Albert, Wilbert, and Harry Lewis, sisters, Ethel and Myrtle, and parents preceded her in death.
She is survived by three sons and three daughters: Earl Piper of Masontown, Pa., Franklin Piper of Virginia, Winona C. Canter of Davistown, Pa., Pearl Hobson of Maine, Reginal Piper of Maryland, and Connie Whyles of Carmichaels, Pa.; a sister, Nellie Dudak of Masontown, Pa.; a brother, Orville Lewis of Lewistown, Pa.; 18 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and River avenues, Masontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, December 30, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service in the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Barry V. Mahoney officiating.
Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
