Honorio G. Pineda M.D.
Honorio (Nory) G. Pineda, M.D., 63, of Uniontown, Pa., died Thursday, December 26, 2002 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Shadyside. He succumbed to complications arising from a recent diagnosis of a rare asbestos-related angiosarcoma cancer. A longtime area resident, Dr. Pineda began a Family Medical Practice in Smithfield, Pa., in 1976 and later moved his office to Uniontown.
He devoted more than 40 years of his life to caring for hundreds of his friends and patients, and especially loved the families he served at his Cherry Tree clinic.
He also served as Medical Director at Beverly Healthcare, and rendered services regularly at Mount Pleasant Surgery Center.
In addition, he was a General Surgeon at the Uniontown Hospital, and a member of the Uniontown Hospital Medical Staff.
Dr. Pineda was recently voted by the area community as “Fayette County’s Best Physician/Surgeon for 2002”, and will be sadly missed by his family, his friends and his patients.
He is survived by his wife, Mila Pineda of Uniontown, Pa.; a son, David Pineda of Scottsdale, Arizona; a daughter, Nina Pineda of New York City, New York; his mother, Salud Pineda of Manila, Philippines; brothers, Henry Pineda and Remy Pineda both of Manila, Philippines; and numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews across the United States.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 680 Cherry Tree Lane, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. where a Prayer Service will be held on Monday, December 30, at 9:30 a.m.
A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m. in St. Therese De Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, Mill Street, Uniontown, Pa., with Rev. Fr. Patrick O’Connor as Celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, the Family asks that donations be made to the Dr. H. G. Pineda Fund, c/o Skirpan Funeral Home, 680 Cherry Tree Lane, Uniontown, PA 15401 to continue the charitable works that Dr. Pineda supported.
Visitation was also held Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m.
