Uniontown Car dealer retires
After more than a half-century in the auto business, Wilbert H. DeWitt of Uniontown is retiring.
DeWitt started his DeWitt Auto Sales in 1950 with one car, limited finances and a dream to be successful. His plan was to create a business that would offer affordable transportation to people in all income brackets.
Employing ambition, hard work, dedication and a compassion for people, DeWitt met his goals for the past 52 years. “He has earned the respect of many members of our community with his honesty and willingness to ensure each customer’s satisfaction,’ a friend said.

Bostock new PDFA chairman
Roy J. Bostock, son of Jane (Bostock) Addis of Uniontown, has been appointed the chairman of the Partnership for a Drug-Free America (PDFA).
With more than 35 years in the advertising business (see sidebar), Bostock will help the Partnership strengthen its relationships with advertising agencies and media concerns throughout the country. Among the new chairman’s priorities will be expanding the organization’s fund-raising capacity. In late October, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation approved a three-year, $15 million grant for core support of PDFA from 2004 through 2006.
The grant represents approximately half of what the organization will need to raise over the coming years. Bostock is the third person to assume the chairmanship of the Partnership – following Herb Baum, who led the organization from 1986-1989, and Jim Burke (1989-2002). Baum, a former chairman of the Association of National Advertisers and the Advertising Council, came to PDFA while president of Campbell Soup. Burke followed after an extraordinary career at Johnson & Johnson, retiring as chairman and CEO in 1989.
Bostock began his career in advertising in 1964 at Benton & Bowles. Rising through the ranks, he was named president of D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles Inc., following the merger of Benton & Bowles with D’Arcy MacManus Masius in 1985.
Bostock became chief operating officer of the agency in 1988 before being named chairman & CEO two years later. After the acquisition of N.W. Ayer in 1996, DMB&B Inc. was reorganized as the MacManus Group. In February 2000, the MacManus Group and the Leo Group merged to form the Bcom3 Group.
Currently, Bostock serves as chair of the Committee for Economic Development and is a trustee of Duke University. Both he and his wife, Merilee Huser Bostock, are graduates of Duke University. Bostock received his MBA from Harvard University. He and his wife live in Rye, New York, and have three adult children Victoria Bostock Walters, Matthew Bostock and Kate Bostock.

Roy Bostock’s experience and many successes in the private sector will only make the Partnership stronger.”
William J. Bennett, former director of national drug policy in the first Bush administration, and Mario M. Cuomo, former three-term governor of New York, each continue serving as honorary PDFA.

Macioce named store manager
Joseph Macioce has been named store manager at the Uniontown Tractor Supply Co. Store, according to District Manager Eric Jordon.
Macioce joined Tractor Supply as a manager trainee in Meadville, in June 2001. He was promoted to assistant manager in Erie, in May.
Macioce holds a bachelor of science degree in agri-business management from the West Virginia University.
In his new position, Macioce will oversee all store operations including receiving, inventory control and merchandising, as well as customer relations and team member relations.
Tractor Supply Co. operates more than 400 stores in 30 states and is focused on supplying products for the lifestyle needs of hobby and part-time farmers and ranchers.

Andria earns certification
Dan Andria Jr., a Small Business Management major at Laurel Business Institute, recently earned his MOUS Master (Microsoft Officer User Specialist) Certification. The MOUS Master Certification is a comprehensive testing program designed to validate top level expertise and skills when using and troubleshooting Microsoft Office Programs that run on Microsoft’s operating systems.
Mr. Andria will complete his Associate Degree from Laurel Business Institute in May, 2003. He is also a 1994 graduate of Albert Gallatin High School, and graduated from Penn State University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice.
