Wallace to return to Fayette County Airport Authority board
The Fayette County commissioners unanimously reappointed board Chairman Jesse Wallace to a five-year term on the Fayette County Airport Authority, amid a slew of other year-end appointments doled out Friday. “He’s done a good job,” Commissioner Sean M. Cavanagh said of Wallace, who was also supported by Commission Chairman Vincent A. Vicites and Commissioner Ronald M. Nehls.
The commissioners also unanimously made the following appointments:
– Appointed Joseph Beal as an alternate to the Fayette County Zoning Hearing Board, on a motion by Vicites seconded by Nehls. However, Vicites’ motions to appoint Pete Brosky and reappoint Lloyd Kendall to the ZHB were delayed at Cavanagh’s request.
– Reappointed William Kania and Leon Evans to the Fayette County Industrial Development Authority.
– Reappointed Palmer Sabatini and Larry Williams to the North Fayette County Municipal Authority.
– Reappointed Louis Diamond and Richard Burd to the Farmland Preservation Board.
– Reappointed John Piwowar and Vicites to the Fayette County Conservation District. Cavanagh nominated Vicites and Nehls seconded the motion, joking, “I received a 2,000-page dialogue on this guy (Vicites), so I would second the motion.”
– Reappointed Tammy Stuck and Dr. Byunghak Jin to the Fayette County MH/MR Advisory Board.
However, Vicites voted nay for Cavanagh appointee Dave Merlin, calling it an “injustice” to replace Carmella Hardy. Nehls seconded Merlin for the position, after noting that he had Melvin Sepic in mind for the slot.
Nehls also seconded Cavanagh’s nomination of Joe Mickens to replace Maggie Watson. Vicites abstained on that move, saying that the commissioners should not replace her.
– Reappointed Robert Baker and Sturge Hughes to the Fayette County Planning Commission. Cavanagh abstained from the Hughes vote, citing a potential conflict.
– Reappointed Mark Morrison to the Fayette County Zoning Hearing Board
– Named six people to the Workforce Investment Board: Marcia Benko (labor representative), Chris Decker (business/education), John Garlow (business), Mike Krajovic (economic development), Barbara Shaw (Department of Public Welfare) and James Stark (Fayette County Community Action Agency Inc.) All but Shaw are reappointments.
