John Bubnash Jr., 86, of Perryopolis, Pa., died Sunday, December 29, 2002 at 9:22 a.m. in Uniontown Hospital. He was born March 27, 1916 in Snowden, Pa., son of John Bubnash Sr. and Susan Matzko Bubnash.

John was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Perryopolis and a Veteran of World War II who served with the United States Army Air Force in the Pacific as a Mechanic where he received eight Bronze Stars.

He worked for United States Steel Corporation’s Clairton Works for 37 years.

A brother, Michael Bubnash died January 25, 2002. His parents are also deceased.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Catherine R. Bordash Bubnash; two sisters: Mrs. Mary Fisher of Perryopolis and Mrs. William (Helen) Wasmuth of Naples, Florida; three brothers: George Bubnash and wife, Hazel, Edward Bubnash and wife, Dorothy, and Paul Bubnash and wife, Jean, all of Perryopolis; several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC., 106 East Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa., today from 2 to 9 p.m. where Panachida Service will be held Tuesday, December 31, at 9:30 a.m.

Funeral Liturgy follows at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Perryopolis, with Rev. Fr. Robert Halus as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by V. F. W. Gold Star Post 7023 and American Legion Post 752 both of Perryopolis.

Parastas Service will be held this evening at 7 p.m.
