Mobile home burns
Fire destroyed a mobile home in the Huggins Trailer Park on Shellie Street in South Union Township Tuesday morning.
“The trailer is definitely gone,” Hopwood Volunteer Fire Department assistant chief Scott Conn said as firefighters looked for clues about the cause of the blaze in sweltering heat that approached 90 degrees before noon.
The fire left standing only some of the exterior walls of Wendy Arnold’s trailer, where she lived for last three years.
She said she was visiting her sister who lives in the trailer next door and her 6-year-old son was outside playing when she first noticed the fire. The trailer was insured, she said.
Arnold said she did not know how the fire started. She also said she has lived in the park all of her life.
South Union Township and North Union Township fire departments also responded to the fire along with the Uniontown Fireman’s EMS.
