Harry F. Stacoviak Jr.
Harry F. Stacoviak Jr., 78, of McClellandtown, Pa., died suddenly on Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at the Uniontown Hospital. He was born Oct. 4, 1923, in Rices Landing, Pa., a son of Harry Stacoviak Sr., and Ann (Yourchik) Stacoviak.
The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Steve and Mike Stacoviak; a sister, Theresa Hisnanick; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Stacoviak and Alice Jane Swaney.
Harry was a member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an usher, a graduate of Brownsville High School, and was a retired mine foreman for U.S. Steel Corporation. He was a wonderful husband and a dedicated and loving father.
During World War II, he served his country in the U.S. Army 399th Armored Field Artillery Battalion at the Rank of Tech 5. Very dedicated to the local Veterans’ organizations, he was a life member, Past Commander, Past Vice Commander, and current Adjutant of the Fort Mason American Legion Post 423, a life member of the Faith-Gray-McArdle VFW Post 4584, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree, Albert Gallatin Council No. 4621. He was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans, was on the firing squad for the VFW Faith-Gray-McArdle Post 4584, and was a life member of the McClellandtown Fire Hall.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane (Havanets) Stacoviak, with whom he would have celebrated 53 years of marriage on July 9, 2002; three daughters, Christine R. Stacoviak, Justine M. Stacoviak and Stacy L. Stacoviak, all at home; a brother-in-law, Leonard Havanets and wife, Dolores of Merrittstown, Pa.; three sisters-in-law, Phyllis Jane Lizurick and husband, Albert of Gaithersburg, Md., Audrey Stacoviak of Cicero, Ill., and Ann Havanets of Fairbank, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews. His cherished pet, “Sir Duke” also survives him.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 515 North Main St., Masontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday, July 5, 2002, until 9:30 a.m., when Prayers of Transfer will be said, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m., in All Saints R.C. Church, with the Rev. Fr. James F. Bump as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Leckrone, Pa., where military honors will be accorded by Faith-Gray-McArdle VFW Post 4584, and Fort Mason American Legion Post No. 423. All Saints Confraternity of Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary today at 7 p.m. Knights of Columbus Council No. 4621 will also stand guard this evening. McClellandtown V.F.D. will hold Ritualistic Services this evening at 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to All Saints School, 101 South Washington St., Masontown, PA 15461.
