James Whitefield, 94, of Masontown, Pa., died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born September 9, 1907, in Midlothian, Maryland.

His wife, Shirley Ann Whitefield, died November 19, 2001. Also deceased are two sons, Charles Whitefield and Lee Stewart, two daughters, Phyllis Whitefield and Betty Walters, and his parents.

Surviving are a son, Glenn Whitefield and his wife, Jean, of Penn, Pa.; a daughter, Rose and her husband, Wilmer Day; a stepdaughter, Donna Johnson and her husband, Thomas, of Lake Lynn, Pa.; a step son, John Ray Farrier Sr. and his wife, Belinda, of Masontown, Pa.; a close friend, Hannah Taylor of Midlothian, Maryland; a brother-in-law, Bernie Farrier and his wife, Joyce, of Carmichaels, Pa., with whom he made his home; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the BERNARD M. TOWNSEND FUNERAL HOME, 220 South Main Street, Masontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Services will be held at 8:30 p.m. with the Rev. Raleigh Townsend officiating.
