Robert Edward Lockett, 72, of 13 Birch Lane, Republic, Pa., passed away Saturday, June 29, 2002, in Beverly HealthCare, Canonsburg, Pa. He was born May 7, 1930, in Columbia, Georgia, the son of Edward Lockett and Kate Brown-Lockett.

He was one of four children.

He resided in the Brownsville, Pa., area the majority of his life.

Robert Edward Lockett served proudly as a Combat Veteran in the Korean War with the United State Air Force.

He was the recipient of the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was self-employed as a Carpenter and Handyman and worked locally helping to restore old buildings.

He was a member of Mount Ararat Baptist Church in Cardale, Pa., since 1992.

His parents, a son, Marvin Edward Lockett, a daughter, Patricia Ann Lockett, and two sisters, Josephine Riley and Charlotte Lockett, preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his loss and cherish his memory: a son, Robert D. Lockett of Miami, Florida; three daughters: Major Lavonne D. Lockett, United States Army 645th Area Support Group, Southfield, Michigan, Mrs. Katie Fleming-Sessegnon of Folcroft, Pa., and Maria Smothers; a brother, Alfred Riley of Connellsville, Pa.; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The Family will receive Friends in the LAW FUNERAL HOME, 135 Angle Street, Brownsville, Pa., on Saturday, July 6, from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon. Services will be held at 12 Noon with Pastor Richard Calloway of Mount Ararat Baptist Church officiating.

Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
