Special camp meeting continues
Light and Life Camp meeting 2002, sponsored by the Laurel Mountain Area Free Methodist Churches, will continue today through July 14 at 1117 N. Morgantown St., Fairchance. The Rev. Forrest States is evangelist. He was born in McKeesport and grew up in the Pittsburgh area. Rev. States and his wife, Elsie, have three children: Kathleen, Samuel and Steven. Rev. States has served the church as a pastor and staff member of a Christian radio station. Rev. States is an ordained elder in the Free Methodist Church and is currently pastoring the Ellwood City Free Methodist Church.
Dr. William Bicksler is a Free Methodist missionary serving in Taiwan. He has been training pastors and missionaries at two seminaries in Taiwan. He also teaches Old Testament courses, Hebrew and Aramic. In 1999, his first wife, Marith, lost her battle with acute leukemia. He and Evelyn Spurling were married June 16, 2001. Mrs. Bicksler services with Dr. Bicksler under Visa assignment in Taiwan.
General camp schedule is: rising bell, 7 a.m., devotions, 7:30 a.m., breakfast, 8 a.m., women’s prayer meeting, 9 a.m., youth/children and adult classes at 10 a.m., lunch, noon, youth/children activities, 1:30 p.m., dinner, 5 p.m., choir practice, 6:15 p.m., service, 7 p.m. followed by afterglow, quiet time, 11 p.m.
Sunday schedule: dinner, 12:30 p.m., evening meal, 5 p.m., ring service, 6 p.m., service, 7 p.m. followed by afterglow, quiet time, 11 p.m.
A special Missionary Ice Cream Society will be held after the evening service on Friday, July 12 in the dining hall.
Camp director is the Rev. Dale Rexrode. Bob Landman is president of trustees. Mary Cooley is business manager. Frank Durst is association president. Don and Eleanor Crossland are spiritual life directors. Linda McLaughlin runs the commissary. Nancy Zebley and Virginia Paschke are missions coordinators. Linda Rexrode is registrar. The Rev. Barb Barnhart is activities director. Larry and Virginia Paschke are store managers. The Rev. Jim Jobes is publicity director.
A volunteer choir will minister during the evening services under the direction of Nancy Yeager.
