Catherine L. Shuba, age 85, of Lemont Furnace, Pa., died Friday, July 5, 2002, at home. Born in Lemont Furnace, Pa., on November 2, 1916, the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Shuba.

Also preceded in death by her brothers, John, Andrew, Frank, Joseph, William and George, sisters, Mary Sherlock, Margaret Gulliver and Elizabeth Nevers, and a niece, Agnes Sadlik.

She was the last member of her immediate family.

She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia and her husband, Col. Robert Raiford, with step grandson, B. J. Raiford, of Springfield, Virginia, and step granddaughter, Erica Robertson and, David Robertson, of Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Kurtik of Ohio; nieces: Margaret German and husband, Mike, of Parma Heights, Ohio, Theresa Mendis and husband, John, of Wickliffe, Ohio, and Cecilia Hurst of California state; nephews: Edward Sherlock and wife, Cora, of Brunswick, Ohio, and Charles Sherlock and wife, Lois, of Wickliffe, Ohio; many great nieces and great nephews; and many special Friends in Lemont Furnace especially Mary Kubiak.

She was employed with the Laurel Highlands School District for many years, a lifelong member of St. Cecilia’s Church in Lemont Furnace, and a member of Fayette County Association of School Retirees and also Jednota Lodge No. 68.

Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 139 West Fayette Street, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 9 p.m. and Monday, July 8, until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, North Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, with Rev. Fr. Anthony Carbone as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Uniontown.
