Carmichaels Heidi’s Hair Studio moves

Heidi’s Hair Studio has recently relocated to 2219 East Roy Furman Highway in Carmichaels.

The studio also welcomes new hair stylist, Lindsey Hawk.

Dollar Discount opens

Dollar Discount at 2944 National Pike Road, Chalk Hill Village Plaza, Chalk Hill, has recently opened for business.

The dollar store offers all of its merchandise, consisting of more than 50,000 items, at $1 or less, which includes health and beauty aids, food and snacks, gifts and novelty items.

Other items include party ensembles, latex and mylar balloons for graduation parties, reunions, banquets and summer picnics, greeting cards and a selection of silk flowers, garlands and foliage with seasonal and holiday themes.

The store is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Owners are Jeff and Kathy Eicher, who also own the Dollar Discount in Fairchance. Telephone is 724-439-0700.

Home buyers meeting planned

Community Action Southwest will host a First Time Homebuyers Workshop from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at the Church of the Covenant, Washington. Pittsburgh

Book sale scheduled

Goodwill Industries of Pittsburgh will hold a public used book sale Saturday, July 13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 14, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Goodwill’s headquarters building, 2600 E. Carson St., South Side, Pittsburgh. There is no cost to attend this public sale.

A preview sale, popular with many book collectors and dealers, also will be held on Saturday, July 13 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. The cost to attend this preview sale is $10 per person paid in advance or $15 per person paid at the door.

Mail the payment to Goodwill Industries of Pittsburgh, Development Department, 2600 East Carson St., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15203.

The sale will feature over 30,000 used books that were sorted by volunteers over the past year. The books are sorted into more than 30 categories, including children and youth, fiction, rare and collectible, cookbooks, hobbies, religion, mystery and business, to name a few.

To coincide with the book sale, there will be a display of special antiquarian books that Goodwill will post on the Internet auction site, www.ebay.com during that week. Also, the remnants of the book sale will be auctioned off to the highest bidder who agrees to pick up the books.
