Amy R. Carney
Amy R. Carney, 83, of Uniontown, Pa., died on Saturday, July 6, 2002, in the Uniontown Hospital. She had been a resident of the Liberty Hall Personal Care Home, Fairchance, Pa.
She was born on November 12, 1918, in Whitney, Pa., a daughter of Matthew and Mary Ann (Muko) Voytek.
Her parents, husband, William C. Carney Sr., a grandson, Robert J. Carney, brothers, John and Matt Voytek, and sisters, Marion Sarkoff, Margaret Bunda, Helen Stephenson, and Lucille Koza preceded her in death.
Mrs. Carney had been the owner and operator of the Meyran Avenue Beauty Salon, Pittsburgh, Pa., for over 20 years and later was employed for 10 years with GNC Nutrition stores.
She was a member of St. John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, St. John’s Confraternity of Christian Mothers, the Sokol Lodge, and the Loretto Lodge Railroad Auxiliary.
Surviving are four children: Candee Leonard and husband, Dale, of Ohiopyle, Pa., William C. Carney Jr. and wife, Carolyn, of Uniontown, Pa., James P. Carney and wife, Joy, of Sandwich, Illinois, and Daniel L. Carney and wife, Donna, of Uniontown, Pa.; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three brothers: Frank Voytek and wife, Isabelle, of Carmichaels, Pa., Robert Voytek and wife, Carol, of Cleveland, Ohio, Joseph Voytek and wife, Linda, of Perryopolis, Pa.; four sisters: Elizabeth Korelko of Uniontown, Pa., Florence Krol of DeMott, Indiana, Dorothy Stavascak of Cleveland, Ohio, Irene Czier of South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 139 West Fayette Street, Uniontown, Pa., today until 8:30 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Jefferson Street, Uniontown, today at 9 a.m. with Rev. Fr. James Vasil as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
