Edward R. Mosier, 76, beloved husband of Margaret “Maggie” Flaherty Mosier of Ohio Township, died Sunday, July 7, 2002. Preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Betsy Mosier Magurn, he is survived by a loving son, Commander Jonathan D. Mosier, USN, and his wife, Sylvia, of San Diego; grandchildren, Brian Magurn, Erin Magurn and Cary Mosier; and by son-in-law George Magurn and his wife, Lisa.

Mr. Mosier was retired from Carnegie-Mellon University, where he had been an Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Business. Born August 14, 1925, in Berea, Ky., to Rodney and Jeanne Shelby Mosier, he graduated from Uniontown High School and then entered military service. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge, where he was wounded in action. He was en-route to the planned invasion of Japan when the Japanese surrendered on August 14, 1945, his twentieth birthday.

He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon, where he served as an elder and as a longstanding member of the choir. He was a volunteer with the Bellevue site of the Meals on Wheels program and at the Health South Rehabilitation Center in Sewickley, formerly DT Watson.

Memorials are suggested to either the Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon, 7501 Church Avenue, Ben Avon, Pa., 15202, or to the Bellevue Meals on Wheels program, c/o Dolores Young, 1005 Norwood Ave., Pittsburgh, Pa., 15202.

A memorial service will be held at his church at a time to be announced later. Arrangements are by ORION C. PINKERTON FUNERAL HOME, INC.
