Julia (Novasky) Downs

Julia (Novasky) Downs, 82, of Beltsville, Md., but formerly of Masontown, Pa., died Wednesday, July 3, 2002. Born in Masontown, Fayette County, Pa., on Saturday, January 17, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Novasky. She was a retired bookkeeper for Hudson Supply & Equipment Co., Riverdale, Md.

She was the wife of Raymond “Dick” Downs and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Maryland.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Joan Hunter, Beltsville, Md.; daughter Linda Downs, Beltsville, Md.; grandson Richard, Atlanta, Ga.; granddaughter Angela, Atlanta, Ga.; brother Frank Novasky, Masontown, Pa.; sister Elizabeth Joyner, Hyattsville, Md.; many nieces and nephews; and 1 great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary M. Lacona, Ann Stillwell, Margaret Patterson, Helen Alexander and Ethel Blashinsky; and brothers John, Charles, Michael and Joseph.

A memorial Mass will be held at All Saints R.C. Church, Masontown, at 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2002, with Fr. James F. Bump as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery, Masontown, Pa.

Arrangements are being handled by the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, Masontown, Pa.

The family requests that donations be sent to Children’s Hospital, Michigan Avenue N.E., Washington, D.C.
