Mill Run’s Eutsey stops Brownsville on no-hitter Mill Run’s Dale Eutsey tossed a gem Wednesday night, no-hitting Brownsville in a 6-1 victory in Fayette County Baseball League action.

Eutsey (3-1) struck out eight and walked four. Brownsville put together a walk, a hits batsmen and a groundout to plate its only run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Mill Run (13-6-1) scored once in the first, once in the fourth and broke the game open with four runs in the sixth.

John Warrick blasted a two-run home run with one out in the sixth, while Jeremy Miller smacked a solo shot with one out in the fourth inning. Miller finished with three hits and two RBIS, while Mike Doppelheuer added three singles.

Dennis Show and Rich Orndorff doubled for the winners.

Craig Rechichar suffered the loss, allowing 12 hits over seven innings. He struck out six and didn’t walk a batter.

Bud Murphy’s 5, Anthony Crane 1 – Chris Fisher scattered five hits in tossing a complete game as Bud Murphy’s defeated Anthony Crane.

Fisher (3-0) struck out seven and walked three. Anthony Crane got its only run and took a short-lived 1-0 lead when Ron Dellarose led off the top of the fourth inning with a home run.

Bud Murphy’s (18-3) responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, the game-winning blow being Greg Beucher’s two-out, two-run home run.

Beucher added a single, and Joe Bonadio had two hits as well, including a double, as the pair were the only players to solve losing pitcher Paul Garbutt.

Garbutt allowed four earned runs on four hits, walked six and struck out one over six innings.

Fayette City-Belle Vernon 12, Carmichaels 3 – Ryan Russell, Brian Horner and Andy Chopp homered as Fayette City-Belle Vernon breezed past the Copperheads.

Russell gave Fayette City a 1-0 lead with a one-out solo blast in the top of the first inning. After Pat Palkovic followed with a single, Horner’s two-run shot made it 3-0.

Chopp added the finishing touches with a three-run dinger in the seventh with two outs.

Russell finished with three hits, while Palkovic, John Hanzzaryk and Justin Murphy had two apiece.

Tim Latham (4-3) was the recipient of a 12-hit attack, tossing a complete game. He allowed six hits, two earned runs, struck out four and walked five.

Scott Swinchock, the first of six Carmichaels pitchers, suffered the loss. He worked 3 1/3 innings, allowed seven runs (six earned), six hits, struck out seven and walked four.

The Copperheads’ Bob Spitnaler homered with the bases empty and no outs in the third.

Fayette City-Belle Vernon improved to 10-11, while Carmichaels dropped to 14-4.

American Legion

Colonial 16, Farmington 2 – The winners pounded out 23 hits, 18 of which were singles, in a rout of visiting Farmington.

Matt Rechichar had two hits, including a solo home run and triple, and five RBIs for the winners, while Chard Rice added three hits and four RBIs.

Brandon Mallick and Nathan Lewis had four hits each, with Mallick counting a triple among his safeties, while Bob Patterson and Jon Sobek added two hits, with Patterson doubling. Jason Rechichar chipped in a triple.

Neil Kelly worked the first four innings for the victory, allowing two runs on one hit. He walked three and struck out one.

Jared Earley suffered the loss, starting and working five and 1/3 innings. He allowed 12 run on 18 hits.

Early and Steve Sawka had two hits each to total Farmington’s four hits.

Colonial improves to 19-2 overall, while Farmington drops to 7-15.

Charleroi 3, Waynesburg 2; Charleroi 12, Waynesburg 6 – Derek DiPiazza tossed a complete game in the opener, while Gino DeRosa scattered nine hits over six innings in the night cap as Colonial swept a doubleheader.

DiPiazza (3-1) allowed four hits and two runs (none earned), while striking out four and walked two.

With the game tied at 2, Charleroi’s Jason Cypher walked with one out.

Bill Fritch followed with a single and Eugene Lancas reached on an error to load the bases. Brody Nichols then hit a ground ball to the shortstop, but he beat the attempted double-play relay throw to first base.

In the nightcap, Charleroi backed DeRosa (4-0) with 13 hits, including Frank McLaughlin’s fifth home run of the season, a three-run shot with two outs in the second inning.

Cypher added a triple.

Nick Ross suffered the loss in the second game, starting and allowing eight runs (seven earned) over four innings. Ricky Stansberry worked a complete game in the opener, allowing eight hits.

Charleroi improves to 14-7, while Waynesburg drops to 3-19.
