Carl W. Swaney
Carl W. Swaney, age 74, of Hopwood, Pa., passed away suddenly after a brief illness Friday evening, July 12, 2002, at his home with his family at his side. He was born June 19, 1928, in York Run, Fayette County, Pa., son of the late George and Stella Belle Ellsworth Swaney.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn J. Long Swaney (April 23, 2002), and three sisters, Ethel Swaney, Ruth Zaydel, Hannah Swaney Dice Show.
Surviving are his children: Terry Swaney and wife, Jacqueline, of Uniontown, Pa., Colleen Swaney of Hopwood, Kevin Swaney and wife, Tammy, of Uniontown; two brothers: Kenneth Swaney and wife, Carol, of Hopwood, George Swaney and wife, Louise, of Uniontown; three grandchildren: Ryan, Megan and Erin; and a great granddaughter, Savannah Swaney.
Carl was a member of Brownfield United Methodist Church, had attended South Union Township High School, was retired from Polito Carpets, and held membership in Hutchinson Sportsman’s Club and the H & H Bowling League.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Visitation continues Tuesday, July 16, in Brownfield United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., the hour of the Service with Rev. Madison Stringfellow officiating.
Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park, Brownfield, Pa.
