Stephen J. “Jack” Pellish
Stephen J. “Jack” Pellish, 78, of Connellsville, Pa., died Thursday, July 11, 2002 in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born December 6, 1923 in Gates, Pa., son of Stephen Pellish and Mary Bordas Pellish.
He was raised in Leisenring, Pa., and had been a long time resident of Connellsville.
Prior to his retirement he worked as a Custodian for the Connellsville Area School District.
He was a Veteran of World War II who served in the United States Army.
“Jack” was a member of the Slovak Club and also St. Rita’s Roman Catholic Church both in Connellsville.
His wife Antoinette J. Orbin Pellish, died in 1997. Also deceased are two brothers, William and Michael Pellish, a sister, Madelyn Kostelnik, and his parents. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by a daughter, Theresa and her husband, Willie Lingenfield, of Connellsville; a stepson, Joseph Matchey of Ohio; a stepdaughter, Geraldine Matchey of Oklahoma; two granddaughters: Michelle McMaster and her husband, Brian, and Cynthia Artis and her husband, David, all of Connellsville; several other stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren: Tyler James McMaster, Macy Kate McMaster, and Riley Nicole Artis; two sisters-in-law: Frances Pellish of Leisenring and Helen Marie Pellish of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pa., today from 12 Noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Blessing Service will be held Monday, July 15, at 9:30 a.m.
A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m. in St. Rita’s Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville, with Rev. Frank Lesniowski as Celebrant.
A Committal Service and interment will follow in St. Rita’s Cemetery.
Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Connellsville V.F.W. and American Legion and Trotter American Legion Honor Guard.
Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home this evening at 8 p.m.
Visitation was also held Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
