Larry and Judy Unice of Buttermilk Lane, Hopwood, announce the engagement of their daughter, Renee Louise, to Charles Ryan Schwertfeger of Raleigh, N.C., son of Charles E. and Nancy Schwertfeger of Wellsburg, W.Va. The bride-to-be is a 1994 graduate of Laurel Highlands High School and a 1999 graduate of West Virginia University with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. In May, she received a master of science degree in nursing from West Virginia University. She is a nurse at West Virginia University Hospital, Morgantown.

Her fianc’ is a 1996 graduate of Brooke High School and a 2001 graduate of West Virginia University with a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering. He is an industrial engineer with IBM in Durham, N.C.

The couple plans a wedding for Oct. 12.
