Fairchance Loretta M. Bailey

Loretta M. Bailey, 76, of Fairchance, Pa., died Saturday, July 13, 2002, at home.

She was born February 9, 1926, in Fairchance, Pa., daughter of William Bailey and Roxie Alice Cooley Bailey.

Loretta was a member of Fairchance Church of The Brethren, Women’s Fellowship, and Ladies Sunday School Class.

She was a retired Bookkeeper for John Tester & Son and formerly owned Loretta’s Card and Gift Shop in the Uniontown Shopping Center.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Naomi M. Jacobs and Freda G. Bailey, five brothers, Ray, Arthur, Herbert, William, and Milton Bailey, and parents.

Surviving are two sisters: Mildred “Mid” Bailey of Fairchance and Erma Wade and her husband, Reed, of Mesa, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

The Family will receive Friends in the GOLDSBORO-TOMI FUNERAL HOME, 21 East Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, July 16, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Rory O. Ruder officiating.

Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Fairchance.

Visitation was also held Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

East Millsboro

Fred W. Baily

Fred W. Baily, 90, of East Millsboro, Pa., died Friday, July 12, 2002, in Brownsville General Hospital.

Born December 2, 1911, in Carmichaels, Pa., he was a son of the late Joseph W. Baily and Martha I. Warne Baily.

Besides parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Stanley Baily, and by sisters, Louise Kerr, Alice Keener and Alberta Baily.

Fred was a lifelong Farmer. He attended West Bend United Methodist Church in East Millsboro when he was a younger man.

Fred will be sadly missed by his sister, Jane Walchock, and his brother, William Irwin Baily, both of East Millsboro; one niece and six nephews.

The Family will receive Friends in the CONFER FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, July 16, from 10 until 11 a.m. Funeral Services will then be conducted by Rev. Paul E. Wilson Sr., Brownsville United Methodist Parish.

Visitation was also held Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Rachel “Pearl”

Christner Cotton

Rachel “Pearl” Christner Cotton, 98, of Scottdale R.D.1, Pa., a 1921 graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School, employed for 18 years by Kelly & Cook Insurance, Scottdale, and for 12 years between Woolworth Company and McCrory’s 5&10 Store, and was born in Lower Tyrone Township, Fayette County, Pa., died Sunday, July 14, 2002, at her residence.

She is survived by four nieces: Janet and her husband, Dave Mitchell, of Cambridge, Ohio, Nancy and her husband, Ralph Brem, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Dorothy Porter of Steubenville, Ohio, and June Heard of Ogden, Utah; a nephew, Richard K. Christner of Del City, Oklahoma; and several great nieces and great nephews.

Family and Friends will be received in the Robert B. Ferguson Funeral Home, 105 Spring Street, Scottdale, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, July 17, until 11 a.m.

Uniontown

Benjamin “Ben”

Francis Haigh

Benjamin “Ben” Francis Haigh, 64, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Friday morning, July 12, 2002, in his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born August 14, 1937, in Lambert, Fayette County, Pa., the son of Sam Haigh and Kathryn Murphy Haigh.

“Ben” had been employed for 31 years at United States Steel Corporation’s Clairton Steel Mill and was employed for 13 years in the Laurel Highland School District in the Maintenance Department.

He was President of the A.F.&M. Music Union 596, a Drummer for The Jolly Slovenes Polka Band, and a former member of Uniontown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47 Band.

His infant daughter, Karen Sue, his brother, Sam Haigh, and parents preceded him in death.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 42 years, Linda Amos Haigh; two children: Cindy Haigh and Tandy Rice of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Roger A. Haigh and his wife, Tammy, of Belle Vernon, Pa.; grandchildren: Jason, Josh, Hannah, and Hope; two brothers: Tom Haigh of Reading, Pa., and John Haigh and his wife, Jessie, of Maryland, two sisters: Leola Ardabell of Uniontown, Pa., and Kathy Palo of Collier, Pa.; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.

The Family will receive Friends in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARSKY III FUNERAL HOME AT 71 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE, UNIONTOWN, Pa., today, July 15, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev. Michael Shepard officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Uniontown.

Carolian Sue Henderson

Carolian Sue Henderson, 65, of Homeville Road, Waynesburg, Pa., who lived most of her life in the Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada, areas where she worked as a card dealer for area casinos, and was born in Grass Valley, California, died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at home.

She is survived by two nephews: Chris Henderson of Fallbrook, California, and Jon Dorsey Henderson of Garberville, California; nieces: Karen Sue Henderson Liebel of Lancaster, California, Starlla Lynn Henderson-Meikle of Gypsum, Colorado, Julie Ann Henderson of Garberville, California, and Terri L. Culpepper Urbano of Sacramento, California; and several other relatives and friends.

James Syrel Hribal Jr.

James Syrel “Shakey” Hribal Jr., 62, of Mount Pleasant, Pa., an employee of L. E. Smith Glass Company Maintenance Department, died Friday, July 12, 2002, in H. C. Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Colbert Hribal; sons: Cullen James Hribal of Mount Pleasant, Pa., and Clinton W. Hribal of Dawson, Pa.; a brother, Francis Hribal and wife, Jauneta, of Mount Pleasant; and sisters: Marie Hribal Harrity of Kittanning, Pa., Madline Hribal Mensch of Youngwood, Pa., and Amelia Hribal of Scottdale, Pa.

Carl G. Humphreys

Carl G. Humphreys, 90, of Masontown, Pa., went to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 11, 2002.

He was born June 6, 1912, in Old Frame, Fayette County, Pa., son of Harry Ray Humphreys and Grace Blosser Humphreys.

Carl was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Old Frame and United Mine Workers of America Robena Local 6321.

His wife, Mary Magdalene Barney Humphreys, son, Richard L. Humphreys, sisters, Elsie Taylor, Ruth Webster, Elizabeth Beech, and parents preceded him in death.

Surviving are his three children: Carl D. Humphreys and wife Mary Jane, Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Jerome (Shirley Ann) Fitzpatrick, Boca Raton, Florida, and Mrs. Richard (Sandy) Tramte, Mentor, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Helen Humphreys, Elyria, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and four sisters: Anna Crofcheck, Redmond, Oregon, Willice Cavany, Anderson, North Carolina, Nellie Begley Myers and Helen Oliver both of Tallmadge, Ohio.

The Family will receive Friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev. Donald Walls officiating.

Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.

Luba Miller Keys

Luba M. (Miller) Keys, 94, formerly of Denbo, Pa., died Saturday, July 13, 2002, at 3:45 p.m. in Lasosky’s Personal Care Home, Clarksville, Pa.

She was born September 25, 1907, in Shoaf, Fayette County, Pa., daughter of Joseph Miller and Estelle Novosel Miller.

Mrs. Keys was a member of The Parish of St. Oliver Plunkett, The Confraternity of Christian Mothers, the Ladies Guild of Denbo, and Beth Center Senior Citizens and Travel Club.

She enjoyed playing bingo, traveling, and quilting.

Her husband, Frank T. Keys, died November 4, 1977. Also deceased are two sons, Frank C. Keys and James T. Keys, one daughter, Ida M. Maydak, one brother, Joseph Miller, three sisters, Ann Zoretic, Louise Keys, Barbara Friend, and her parents.

Surviving are two daughters: Frances L. Kadonick and Barbara Ryan both of California, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Keffer, Newton Falls, Ohio.

Friends will be received in the GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road, Fredericktown Hill, Fredericktown, Pa., today from 2 to 9 p.m. where a Blessing Service will be held Tuesday, July 16, at 10 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael Archangel Catholic Church of The Parish of St. Oliver Plunkett, Fredericktown, Pa., with Rev. Fr. Edward S. Litavec as Celebrant.

Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.

Parish Vigil will be held in the Funeral Home today at 8:30 p.m.

Williamstown

Mary Pollak Kosuh

Mary A. Pollak Kosuh, age 92, of Williamstown, Clarksville, Pa., died Sunday, July 14, 2002, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg, Pa.

She was born March 25, 1910, in Revere, Fayette County, Pa., daughter of Andrew and Anna Pollak.

Mrs. Kosuh was a Homemaker and lived in Revere then moved to Clarksville in 1950.

On October 15, 1926, she married Steve Kosuh. He died January 27, 1989. Also deceased are two brothers, two sisters, and her parents.

Surviving are two sons: John Kosuh of Clarksville and Jack Kosuh of Paulsboro, New Jersey; four grandchildren: Carol Porter of Barrackville, West Virginia, Don Hardy of Waynesburg, Pa., Bill Hardy of Clarksville, Pa., and Stephen Kosuh of Paulsboro, New Jersey; five great grandsons: Josh, Matt, Cody, D. J., and Ben; also a dear friend and caregiver, Martha Viano.

Friends will be received in the BEHM FUNERAL HOMES INC., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Pa., on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. where a Blessing Service will be held Wednesday, July 17, at 9:30 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church, Clarksville, with Rev. Fr. Thomas R. Miller as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. Mary (Nativity) Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.

William “Billy” A. Richards Jr., age 3 years, of Merrittstown, Pa., passed away suddenly Friday, July 12, 2002.

He was born July 1, 1999, in Uniontown, Pa., son of William “Drew” Richards and Michaelene Gmutza Richards of Merrittstown.

In addition to his parents he is survived by the following sisters and brothers: Cassie Pennington of California, Pa., Noah Kushak, Adam Kushak, Haley Tolnai, Mara Kushak and Ariel Kushak all at home; paternal grandparents, Sylvester “Sonny” and Barbara Richards of Brownsville, Pa.; maternal grandparents, Velma Gmutza of Filbert, Pa., and the late Steve “Feets” Gmutza; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem, Pa., Monday after 7 p.m., Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 17, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Wilson officiating.

Annmarie Surak

Annmarie Surak of Walnut Creek, California, and formerly of the Fairchance, Pa., area, who was born in Winona, Minnesota, died July 15, 2000, at the age of 57.

Survivors include her mother, Violet Reynolds, Walnut Creek, California; daughters: Theresa Surak, Walnut Creek, California, and Susan Surak Castillo, Albuquerque, New Mexico; a son, Stephen Surak, San Francisco, California; two granddaughters of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brothers: Gene Roberts, Ventura, California, and Ken Roberts, Concord, California; and a sister, Donna Billauer, Los Angeles, California.

Friends are invited to join the Family on Thursday, July 18, 2002, at 9:30 a.m. at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Roman Catholic Church, 50 North Morgantown Street, Fairchance, Pa.

Carl W. Swaney

Carl W. Swaney, age 74, of Hopwood, Pa., passed away suddenly after a brief illness Friday evening, July 12, 2002, at his home with his family at his side.

He was born June 19, 1928, in York Run, Fayette County, Pa., son of the late George and Stella Belle Ellsworth Swaney.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn J. Long Swaney (April 23, 2002), a great granddaughter, Savannah Swaney, and three sisters, Ethel Swaney, Ruth Zaydel, Hannah Swaney Dice Show.

Surviving are his children: Terry Swaney and wife, Jacqueline, of Uniontown, Pa., Colleen Swaney of Hopwood, Kevin Swaney and wife, Tammy, of Uniontown; two brothers: Ray Swaney and wife, Carol, of Hopwood, George Swaney and wife, Louise, of Uniontown; and three grandchildren: Ryan, Megan and Erin.

Carl was a member of Brownfield United Methodist Church, had attended South Union Township High School, was retired from Polito Carpets, and held membership in Hutchinson Sportsman’s Club and the H & H Bowling League.

Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Helen Kovach Trosiek

Helen Kovach Trosiek, 80, of McClellandtown, Pa., passed away Friday, July 12, 2002, at her home.

She was born June 10, 1922, in Hope, Pa., daughter of Gabriel Kovach and Mary Kvochko Kovach.

Helen was a member of Saint John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Uniontown.

Her husband, John Trosiek, three brothers, Efften, George and John Kovach, sisters, Catherine Rusnak and Ann Sprusansky, and parents preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons: John Trosiek and his wife, Frances, of McClellandtown and Steven Trosiek of Uniontown, Pa.; two grandsons: John Trosiek III of Manassas, Virginia, and Christopher Trosiek of Alexandria, Virginia; a sister, Mary Savage of Uniontown; a brother, Gabriel Kovach and his wife, JoAnn, of Girard, Ohio; numerous dedicated nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Dee Wilson, her caregiver.

Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, July 16, until 10 a.m. when a Panachida Service will be held.

Divine Liturgy follows at 11 a.m. in St. John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, East Main Street, Uniontown, Pa., with Rev. Fr. Thomas Wesdock as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa.

Parastas will be held in the Funeral Home Monday evening at 7 p.m.

Robert D. Weimer

Robert D. “Jake” Weimer, 85, of Connellsville, Pa., formerly of Waltersburg, Pa., passed away Sunday, July 14, 2002, in Harmon House, Mount Pleasant, Pa.

He was born January 21, 1917, in White, Pa., son of Randall Weimer and Pearl Ritenour Weimer Laws.

Prior to his retirement he was a Steelworker at the Clairton Works of United States Steel Corporation.

He was a member of Connellsville Church of God on Breakneck Avenue.

A brother, Earl Weimer, an infant sister, Florence Weimer, and his parents preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Delores Ramage Weimer; four sons: Elmer Weimer in Florida, George Weimer in Tennessee, Hobert Weimer of Uniontown, Pa., and Robin Weimer in Michigan; three daughters: Betty Smith of Donegal, Pa., Evelyn Bosley of Connellsville, and Minnie DeMarco in Texas; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters: Marie Laws Ohler of Connellsville and Ferne Clark of White, Pa.; two brothers: Melvin Laws in Florida and Donald Laws of Mount Pleasant, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Arlene Ramage, and a stepson, Ronald Ramage, both of Connellsville.

Friends will be received at the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Service will be held Wednesday, July 17, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kay Kurtz officiating.

Kimberly Kay Coddington Yingling, 37, of Uledi, Pa., died Sunday, July 14, 2002, in Uniontown Hospital.

She is survived by her parents, Ronald M. Coddington and Vivian Lint Coddington of Uledi, Pa.; her husband, Donald E. Yingling; beloved daughters: Tara Turpen, Trisha Turpen and Kayla Yingling all at home; brothers: Ronald Coddington and Kevin Coddington both of Uledi and Douglas Coddington of Balsinger, Pa.

The Family will receive Friends in the Thomas M. Dolfi Funeral Home, 136 North Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., on Tuesday, July 16, from 10 a.m. until the service at 12 Noon.
