James R. Williams
James R. Williams, 82, of Dilliner, Pa., was called from this life by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to be reunited with his beloved wife in Heaven on Friday, July 19, 2002, from his home. Born July 3, 1920, in Sherett, Pa., he was the son of Robert Williams and Lulu Ridley Williams.
He was a member for many years of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Dilliner.
“Jim” was a World War II United States Navy Veteran.
He formerly worked at Houze Glass Corporation in Point Marion. Later he went to the coal mines starting at J & L Steel’s Shannopin Mine in Bobtown and retired from Gateway Mine.
He was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 6159 and also American Flint Glass Workers Union.
His loving wife, Catherine “Toot” Horner Williams died September 28, 1988. Also deceased are sisters, Mary Prete and Clara Turney, brothers, Donald and Bill Williams, and parents.
He is survived by a son, Jerry Williams and his wife Elaine; two grandchildren: Craig Williams of Dilliner and Lori Pratt of Carmichaels, Pa.; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Williams of Karn City, Pa.; and sisters: Dorothy “Dott” Evans of Winter Garden, Florida, and Helen Henry of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, Pa. today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Visitation continues in Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until the Service at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Parker officiating.
Interment follows in Wolf’s Cemetery, Dilliner, where Military Honors will be accorded by V.F.W. Post 747 and American Legion Post 499 both of Point Marion.
