Woman robbed
An employee of the Sheehan’s grocery store at 315 Wood St., California, was robbed Thursday night while leaving the store, according to borough police.
A man approached the employee from Peach Way at 9:17 p.m. as the employee was going to her car. She told the man that the store was closed, but he continued to approach and demanded the moneybag she was carrying.
The suspect was described only as a white man who was wearing a mask. The man did not display a weapon and left the area on foot with $2,169 in cash. Police said he might have had a car nearby.
California police searched the area, with assistance from West Brownsville, Centerville, RESA and California University of Pennsylvania police, without success.

Bank robbed
State police said the Scottdale Bank and Trust Co. on Route 819 was robbed Thursday at 11:10 a.m. by an armed white man whose getaway truck was recovered in Mount Pleasant.
The suspect is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, about 30 years old, weighing 140 pounds, with brown hair and possibly brown eyes.
He wore a stocking mask, white shirt and dark pants during the holdup.
Police said he brandished a handgun, obtained an undisclosed amount of money and fled in a brown Dodge Ramcharger. The Greensburg fire department’s bloodhound team helped search for the suspect, and the FBI is investigating the robbery. Anybody with information should call state police at 724-832-3288.

Man charged
State police filed charges of recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief against Charles P. Shultz, 19, of Daisytown after a Thursday night incident along Whitehall Road.
Police said Shultz hit a vehicle owned by Natalie A. Sepesy of Brownsville with his fist. That led to a confrontation in which he allegedly produced a .30/30-caliber rifle and pointed it at Sepesy and Richard L. Hartley of Daisytown. Charges were filed at District Justice William Pelkey’s office.

City police said Penny Renner of Connellsville Street reported Thursday that her license plate, bearing registration number DTP-9210, was stolen from her car.

Wallet stolen
State police said somebody broke a window on a car owned by Melissa Arb of Dunbar along Hawkins Hollow Road and stole her wallet containing about $10 on Wednesday.

State police said somebody broke a window on a car owned by Heather Lynn Biller of Connellsville and stole a makeup case containing about $200 worth of makeup Wednesday along First Street, near Gun Club Road.

State police said an object was thrown at a truck owned by Jennifer L. Lentz of West Leisenring on July 15, damaging the tailgate, along First Street.

Man cited
State police cited Dale Weaver of North Charleroi with criminal trespass and harassment for allegedly entering Jennifer Cramer’s Middle Street residence and beginning an argument at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Juveniles charged
State police said two juveniles were apprehended Thursday and turned over to juvenile probation authorities after alleged thefts in Normalville.
Police said the juveniles entered the Lloyd Geary residence on Jockey Knob Road and removed a tractor and stereo equipment. The duo then allegedly went to the Clint Road residence of Rodney Geary, Normalville, and stole a quad and motorcycle.
All items were recovered.

Charges pending
Brownsville police took a juvenile and a man into custody for suspected drug activity after police pursued the two on foot from South Hills Terrace to the A-Plus Mini Mart at 12:21 a.m. July 17. Charges are pending.

Two windows were broken on the Rose residence on Fourth Street between the evening of July 12 and the morning of July 15, Brownsville police reported.

Gun lost
Robert Scott of 541 Hibbs St. told Brownsville police that he placed his handgun on the back bumper of his vehicle while loading it before going target shooting July 10. He noticed that the gun was missing later in the day. Police said he believes the loaded gun fell off along the road between Hibbs Street and Uniontown between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Hit-and-run probed
State police said J.T. Nazimek of Connellsville was stopped to make a left turn when his vehicle was struck by a hit-and-run driver in a gray, full-size van at 4:55 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Route 119 and East End Road.

Someone broke into the Dinner Bell Bar and Restaurant through a window between 11 p.m. Friday and 8:10 a.m. Saturday and stole a large quantity of alcoholic beverages, state police said.

Three hurt in crash
Ronald Lee Hunkart, 19, of Daisytown and his passengers, Eve Como, 17, of Coal Center and Jamie Klich, 19, of Daisytown, were injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday at 7 p.m. on Route 136, Washington County, state police said.
The other driver, Dale Crawford, 36, of Brownsville, and his passenger, Todd Morgan, 32, of Nemacolin, were not injured, police said.

Debra Lape reported a man trying to remove a license plate from a neighbor’s car Friday at 5:05 p.m., said Uniontown police. Lape said the unidentified man fled in a green Grand Am.
