Sixteen to compete tonight for Miss Rain Day title
The annual Miss Rain Day Scholarship Pageant will take place today at 6 p.m. at Waynesburg Central High School. The contestants will participate in sportswear, talent and evening gown competitions. Slide presentations and the farewell to Miss Rain Day 2001, Angela Bertugli, also will be a part of the evening’s festivities.
The contestants (in order of appearance) for the title of Miss Rain Day 2002 are as follows:
Addie Rae Lovingood, the 16-year-old daughter of John and Rhonda Lovingood of Holbrook. A student at West Greene High School, she will perform a dramatic dialog selection, “Scene 7 from MacBeth.” Her ambition is to become the German-American ambassador.
Cassie Mooney, the 16-year-old daughter of Robert and Helen Mooney of Waynesburg. A student at Waynesburg Central High School, she will perform a character acro-dance to “My Guy.” She plans to attend West Virginia University or Duquesne University to major in occupational therapy and become an occupational therapist and a dance school owner.
Emily Spade, the 15-year-old daughter of John and Rosetta Spade of Waynesburg. A student at Waynesburg Central High School, she will perform a jazz dance to “A Little Brains, a Little Talent.” She plans to attend New York University to major in psychology. She said her ambition is to live long, be successful and make all her dreams come true.
Meaghan Bruno, the 15-year-old daughter of John and Karen Bruno of Waynesburg. A student at Waynesburg Central High School, she will perform a ballet dance to “Hero.” Her ambition is to attend West Virginia University to major in criminal justice.
Jeannette Sinnott, the 15-year-old daughter of Rodney and Stephanie Phillips of Waynesburg. A student at Waynesburg Central High School, she will perform a
vocal selection titled “You Can’t Lose Me.” She plans to attend college.
Ashley Nicole Drew, the 14-year-old daughter of Gary and Joyce Drew of Greensboro. A student at Mapletown High School, she will perform an acro-jazz dance to “MacArthur Park.” She plans to attend college and major in pediatric physical therapy.
Heather Bradway, the 16-year-old daughter of Charles and Loretta Koscheck of Prosperity. A student at West Greene High School, she will perform a Pointe ballet and lyrical dance to “Crush on You.” She plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh and major in anesthesiology.
Meghan Snyder, the 15-year-old daughter of Shirlene Snyder of Waynesburg. A student at Waynesburg Central High School, she will perform an acro-dance to “Jungle.” She plans to attend the University of North Carolina to major in architecture and eventually design and build her own home for her family.
Courtney Franks, the 14-year-old daughter of Cindy and Denny Franks of Rices Landing. A student at Jefferson-Morgan High School, she will perform an acro-jazz dance to “Man, I Feel Like a Woman.” She plans to attend Waynesburg College or Penn State to major in child psychology or special Education.
Rachel Marie Burack, the 17-year-old daughter of Charles and Cyndee Burack of Greensboro. A student at Mapletown High School, she will perform an acro-jazz dance to “Queen Bee.” She plans to attend California University of Pennsylvania to major in broadcast journalism and communications and minor in dance. She said her ambition is to dance in music videos, become a successful broadcast journalist, lead a happy life and have a positive influence on everyone she meets.
Elizabeth Jane Carroll, the 16-year-old daughter of Pamela Carroll of Waynesburg. A student at Waynesburg Central High School, she will perform an acro-jazz dance to “Shake up the Party.” She plans to attend Kentucky State University or Penn State to become a physical therapist. She said her ambition is to succeed in life and live each second as happy as she can.
Emily Patterson, the 15-year-old daughter of Erin and Brad Patterson of Waynesburg. A student at Waynesburg Central High School, she will perform a piano and vocal selection titled “Redeemer.” She plans to attend college to major in music and marine biology and hopes to become a contemporary Christian singer and songwriter.
Megan Denelle Samek, the 18-year-old daughter of John and Susan Samek of Carmichaels. A student at Carmichaels Area High School, she will perform an acro-jazz dance, “Fosse Medley.” She plans to attend college to major in fashion merchandising and fashion design and become a fashion coordinator.
Arica Jordan, the 17-year-old daughter of Diana Martin of Dilliner. A student at Mapletown High School, she will perform a piano selection, “Sonata Pathetique” by Beethoven. She plans to attend West Virginia University to major in dentistry and some day open her own dental business.
Linette Zabrosky, the 18-year-old daughter of Charles and Christine Zabrosky of Carmichaels. A student at Carmichaels Area High School, she will perform a vocal selection, “We Shall Behold Him.” She plans to attend Westminster Choir College or Rider University to major in sacred music and eventually manage a church’s music ministries.
Julia Loeper, the 15-year-old daughter of John and Barbara Loeper of Waynesburg. A student at Waynesburg Central High School, she will perform a vocal selection, “The Wind Beneath My Wings.” She plans to attend Penn State University to major in communication technology and eventually work on network television.
