Eugene R. Filby Sr., 59, of Brownsville, Pa., a mechanic for Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, died Friday, July 19, 2002, at 1:40 p.m., in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc., Carroll Township, Washington County, Pa. On June 16, 1964, he married Patricia L. Fulmer Filby, who survives. Also surviving are five children: Eugene R. Filby Jr., of Monongahela, Pa., Leah Filby Gordon of Belle Vernon, Pa., Lawrence Filby of Vestaburg, Pa., Brian Filby of California, Pa., and Jeffery Filby of Charleroi, Pa.; nine grandchildren; sisters: Betty Mae Filby Rice of Brownsville, Pa., and Annabelle Filby of California, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends in the Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Route 40, Beallsville, Pa., today until 11 a.m. Visitation was also held on Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
