Refurbished Albright Park reopens
Albright Park in Uniontown was recently reopened with a full compliment of new playground equipment for city youth to enjoy. The park, located off Mifflin Avenue, was renovated from the ground up with everything from new pavement to basketball hoops.
It was closed all of last year when the work began. City workers returned to the park this year and completed the project.
“Everybody really got involved,” city Councilman Joseph Giachetti said. “It was a city effort.”
Giachetti, director of the parks and public property department, credited the street and sewerage departments for restoring the park.
City Councilman Robert Cerjanec said the city combined Community Development Block Grants from two years for a total of $114,000 for the project.
Fayette Engineering Co. Inc. designed the project, Giachetti said.
He said the park has new basketball hoops, a pavilion, new water fountain, two swing sets and various other playground equipment for children.
Cerjanec said funding for the new water line to the fountain and a new section of fencing came from city coffers.
“It’s like a whole new park,” Giachetti said.
