Man sues company over poor working environment
Richard D. Leadbeater filed suit against a Monongahela contracting company Tuesday, claiming that an improperly maintained work environment caused him extensive respiratory injuries. Leadbeater, whose address was not listed on the suit, claimed that Matt Canestrale Contracting, Inc. did not properly warn or caution him that coal dust and fly ash from working on the Monongahela River could cause harm.
From August 1999 through February 2000, Leadbeater was employed on two boats, removing fly ash and coal dust from the Mitchell Power Plant in Monongahela.
During that time period, because of the exposure to dust and ash, Leadbeater “was made sick, sore, lame and disordered and suffered extensive respiratory injury,” according to the lawsuit
Further, the suit alleges that the exposure left Leadbeater disabled and has forced him to spend large amounts of money for health care.
Leadbeater is asking for an award in excess of $50,000 and payment of medical bills associated with the exposure.
