Mabel Cain Svec
Mabel Cain Svec of Uniontown, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2002, in her daughter’s residence after a long illness. She was born in Hopwood, Pa., daughter of Raymond Cain and Bess Low Cain, on July 11, 1923.
She was a longtime resident of South Union Township, devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother, and a Friend to all she knew.
She loved crafts, gardening, family, friends and fashion!
She worked in defense in Baltimore, Maryland, prior to being married.
Preceded by her husband, John Svec, whom she was married to for 47 years, also sisters, Kathrine Johnson and husband, Ethel Stevens and husband, Irene Buttermore and husband, brothers, James Cain and wife, Fred Cain, infant brother Kenneth, and parents.
She is survived by two daughters: Carol and husband, Len Burncheck, of Northfield, Ohio, and Connie and husband, Ron Guthrie, of Uniontown, Pa.; grandchildren: Kellie and Jeff Svendsen, Sean and Laura Guthrie, Jason and Kim Guthrie; great grandchildren: Paige and Evan Svendsen, Gabrielle Guthrie; a sister, Gertrude Smallwood, Fort Meyers, Florida; several nieces and nephews including a very special niece, Pat Patitucci.
Friends will be received in the JAMES D. BARNETT FUNERAL HOME, 196 West Main Street, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday, July 26, from 10 a.m. until the Service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Wayne Sawyer will officiate.
Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Farmington, Pa.
