Lucille Selby
Lucille Selby, age 78, of Uniontown, Pa., died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, on her birthday, in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, Pa. She was born July 23, 1924, in Edgecombe, N.C., daughter of the late Solomon Avent and Maggie Powell Avent.
She was a member of the N.A.A.C.P. and S.A.C., both of Uniontown, Pa.
Surviving are one son, Rufus Avent and wife, Nettie of Oakland, Calif.; one goddaughter, Beverly Geary and husband, James of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Sol Avent and his wife, Addie and one sister, Pearl Avent, all Brooklyn, N.Y.; three grandchildren, DeJuana Phae Avent of Sacramento, Calif., Melinda Avent of Seattle, Wash., and Rufus Avent Jr., of Sacramento, Calif.; two step-grandchildren, Sabrina Hayes of Seattle, Wash., and Tresa Cox of Sacramento, Calif.; a nephew, Clarence Richardson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a lifelong friend, Alberta Ford of Uniontown, Pa.; and other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received in the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main Street, Uniontown, Pa., on Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Monday, July 29, 2002, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Eric Johnson and the Rev. Louis Ridgley officiating. Interment will be in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville, Pa.
