Lucille Avent Selby
Lucille Selby, age 78, of Uniontown, Pa., died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, on her birthday in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, Pa. She was born July 23, 1924, in Edgecombe, North Carolina, daughter of Solomon Avent and Maggie Powell Avent.
She was a member of the N.A.A.C.P. and S.A.C. both of Uniontown.
Surviving are one son, Rufus Avent and wife, Neddie, of Oakland, California; one Goddaughter, Beverly Gary and husband, James, of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother, Saul Avent and wife, Addie, and one sister, Pearl Avent, all of Brooklyn, New York; three grandchildren: DeJuana Phae Avent of Sacramento, Calif., Melinda Avent of Seattle, Washington and Rufus Avent Jr. of Sacramento, Calif.; two step-grandchildren: Sabrina Hayes of Seattle, Wash., and Tresa Cox of Sacramento, Calif.; a nephew, Clarence Richardson and wife, Carol, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a lifelong friend, Alberta Ford of Uniontown, Pa.; other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received in the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main Street, Uniontown, Pa., today from 5 to 9 p.m. where Services will be held Monday, July 29, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Eric Johnson, Rev. Howard Dantzler and Rev. Louis Ridgley officiating.
Interment in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, Pa.
