The judging was expected to go on all afternoon. Dairy Cattle: Judging of dairy cattle began at 9 a.m. in the Indoor Arena and was expected to continue until about 4 p.m.
Officials said 176 animals were registered for the show, including the following breeds: Holstein, Jersey, Ayershire, Brown Swiss, Milking Shorthorn, Guernsey and Red and White.
Grand champion Holstein in the open show went to Walter Brown while Melissa Hixson won reserve grand champion. Eric Hixson took the 4-H grand and reserve champion Holstein.
Results from other breeds were not yet available.
Judge John Andrew Foster of Huntington County commented about the animals he had seen so far, “I thought that was as good a foot and leg group as I’ve seen at a county fair anywhere. There was quality from top to bottom in every class. The animals have been extremely well presented. And the staff has been tremendous in having everything organized. I think everyone should thank the breeders and exhibitors for taking the time to bring their animals out to the fair.’
