Summer reading program announced
CALIFORNIA – The Summer Reading Club at California Area Public Library starts with a free magic show Tuesday evening. Doc Dixon’s “Be a Reading Star” Amazing Wonder show will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the library to kick off the summer reading program, which is co-sponsored by Community Action Southwest. All family members are welcome at the kick-off event.
Reading club sessions for children who have completed kindergarten through third grade will be held at two locations this year: the Methodist Church in Roscoe and at the library in California. Parents are encouraged to attend and participate in the program. A light lunch will be provided at each site.
The reading club will be held June 11, 18 and 25 and July 2, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church at Furlong and Church streets in Roscoe and from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the library.
The Summer Reading Club Carnival will be held July 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the library.

In addition to the reading club for children, the library will sponsor a bookmobile again this summer.
On Mondays, the bookmobile will be in Blainesburg, California, Coal Center, Clover Hill, Ridge Road and Denbo, traveling from site to site between 10 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.
On Tuesdays, the bookmobile will move through Allenport, Stockdale, Roscoe, Elco, Long Branch and Knob Road. On Wednesdays, the bookmobile will go to Malden, Granville, Daisytown, Crescent Heights and Beallsville. The bookmobile includes books, magazines, audio books and videotapes for adults and children.
