Charles Nelson Settles, 66, of Pittsburgh, Pa., died Thursday, May 30, 2002, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born March 14, 1936, in Brownsville, Pa., the son of Jacob Settles Sr. and Evelyn Frye Settles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Dolores Johnson Settles, and two sisters, Evelyn Settles and Belinda Settles.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Wilson Settles; five children: Caroline Johnson of Allison, Pa., Melina Settles, Monica Settles, Marcia Settles and Charles Settles Jr. all of Pittsburgh, Pa.; five sisters: Nina Moultrie, Goldie “Dolly” Jones and husband Roy, Charlotte Dabney and husband Vernon, all of Pittsburgh, Darlene Curry and husband Richard “Steve” and Donna Settles all of Uniontown, Pa.; five brothers: Jacob Settles Jr. and wife Katherine, of Allison, Pa., Robert Settles of Uniontown, Pa., Richard Settles and wife, Twila, of Beallsville, Pa., Jack Settles and Albert Lawrence Settles both of Carnegie, Pa.; a beloved friend, Linda McPhearson of Pittsburgh, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friends will be received in the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main Street, Uniontown, Pa., on Tuesday, June 4, from 5 to 9 p.m. where Services will be held Wednesday, June 5, at 12 Noon with the Rev. Cynthia Hackett officiating.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
