Verna Keck VanHorn Hoffman, age 89, of Uniontown, Pa., died Sunday, June 2, 2002, in Beverly HealthCare. She was born May 10, 1913, in New Salem, Pa., the daughter of J. C. Keck and Emma Belle Finley Keck.

Verna was a graduate of Uniontown High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania and taught school at Ben Franklin Junior High School for 25 years.

She was a member of Mount Washington Presbyterian Church of Farmington, Pa., Pennsylvania Retired Teaches Association, Fayette County Branch of Retired Teacher, and enjoyed volunteering at the Uniontown Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Webster J. VanHorn, her second husband, Elmer B. Hoffman, two brothers, Dr. William F. Keck and Harold Keck, two sisters, Irene Hess and Kathryn Klein, and her parents.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews: Amana Hess of Uniontown, Jesse Hess Jr. of Salisbury, Maryland, Kay Vance of North Vernon, Indiana, and Dale Klein of Middlesex, Vermont.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa., where Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, June 5, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev. Peter Keith officiating.

Interment will follow in Hill Grove Cemetery, Connellsville, Pa.
