Donald E. “Red” Fetsco
Donald E. “Red” Fetsco, 78, a lifelong resident of Monarch, Pa., died June 3, 3003 at home. He was born October 6, 1923 in Monarch, a son of the late Andrew Sr. and Gertrude Hart Fetsco.
He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul R.C. Church, Leisenring, Pa., During WWII he served with the United States Army’s 872nd Airborne Engineer Aviation Battalion. After his honorable discharge in 1945, he returned home to work for Maple Creek & Leisenring Mines. Later he was employed by the B & O Railroad until his retirement. “Red” was also an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing the “Fruits of his Labor” with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy E. Tomechko Fetsco; four children, Donald Fetsco and wife Sarah of Dunbar Township, Francis Fetsco and wife Dianne of Little Summit, Karen Check and husband Ernie of Juniata and Laurie Bryner and husband Mike of Uniontown; seven grandchildren, Merit Boucher and husband Greg, Chris, Todd and Liz Fetsco, Alex Trader, Adam and Travis Check; a great grandson, Cody Fetsco; two brothers, Andrew Fetsco Jr. and wife Maylene of Monarch, Sam Fetsco and wife Nellie of Arizona; a sister, Theresa Schmidtke of Monarch; and a sister-in-law Betty Fetsco.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis, Raymond and John (Fets) Fetsco and a sister Kathryn Piern.
Friends will be received today from 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 to 9 p.m. in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERL HOME, INC., 418 North Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, Pa., where a Blessing Service will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent DePaul R.C. Church, Connellsville, Pa. with the Rev. Fr. John Butler as celebrant.
Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, Pa.
