Community calendar – June 5
FAYETTE COUNTY POMONA GRANGE 49 will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ohiopyle Community Building. Officers will be elected. Lunch will be served. FAYETTE COUNTY FIREMEN’S ASSOCIATION will meet at 8 p.m. Friday at Springfield Township Fire Department, Mill Run. Officers will be elected. The 64th annual convention will take place July 7-13 and co-hosted by Farmington and Hopwood fire departments. There is not meeting in August.
PLANET WIRELESS is holding its second annual Relay for Life dance on June 28 at the Amvets Post 103, Hopwood. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Price of $20 per person includes a steak dinner and dance. Child’s hamburger dinner and dance is $8 per person. Dinner will be served from 6 to 8 p.m. Dance only is $10 per person. Providing music will be the Classics, oldies band; and D.J. Cool and Diceman. A Chinese auction will also be held. Tickets may be purchased at Planet Wireless, 80 W. ALLISON CHRISTIAN CHURCH will hold a flea market Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. at the church social hall.
BROWNFIELD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH Willing Workers Class, will hold a birthday month at 6 p.m. Friday in the social room. Members are to bring a covered dish. There will be no gift exchange.
EARLY MORNING MALL ADULT WALKERS will hold a picnic on June 14 at 6 p.m. at the Amvets Post 103, Hopwood. There is no charge to members. Members are to bring canned and non-perishable foods for the food bank. Reservations must be made before June 10 by calling 724-437-8514. Guests are welcome to attend.
MORNING STAR GRANGE will meet at noon Friday for lunch. Business meeting will follow. The annual memorial program will be presented and officers for the coming two years will be elected.
