Perryopolis Legion edges Carmichaels Perryopolis pitcher Phil Dinetti warded off a late Carmichaels’ charge as he held on to win 3-2 in Fayette County League action.
Dinetti scattered four hits over seven innings and struck out five.
Carmichaels had the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning when Brian Shetterly popped out to second base to end the game.
Dustin Schwabb had a triple and Josh Miller a double for the game’s only extra-base hits.
Scott Swinshock picked up the loss for Carmichaels.
Anthony Crane 14, Charleroi 2 -Ron Dellarose slapped a grand slam home run in the bottom of the third inning as AC cruised to an easy win over Charleroi.
Dellarose’s hit came after a hit-by-pitch and two singles.
Joey Locke went the distance for AC. He tossed three strikeouts and five walks.
Lou Pasquale, Ken Musko and Ryan Encapera each doubled for AC.
Fayette City 4, Masontown 3 – Fayette City almost gave up a 4-0 lead as Masontown rallied in the sixth and seventh innings.
In the seventh inning, with one out, Masontown’s Todd Dunham reached on an error and Brad Baker followed with a two-run home run to make it 4-3.
Jimmy Cole flied out to center to end the game.
Justin Murphy made his debut on the mound and went the distance for Fayette City. Murphy gave up four hits, struck out three and allowed only one walk.
Fayette City (3-6) will play at home against MillRun on Thursday.
Jim Kubina took the loss for Masontown (4-3).
