Hugh L. Fant
Hugh Lee Fant, 83, of Uniontown, Pa., died Sunday, June 2, 2002, in his home. He was born Sept. 13, 1918, in South Carolina, son of the late Simpson and Lizzie Fant.
He was a World War II veteran, and a retired U.S. Steel worker.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Fant; the following children: Charles D. Fant of Decatur, Ga., Hugh L. Fant Jr., of Pittsburgh, Pa., Ryland L. Ford of Decatur, Ga., Bruce A. Fant of Connellsville, Pa., Lamont Shannon of Uniontown, Pa., and James and Charmaine D. Smith, Annette S. Fant, Cathleen Fant, Chiquita L. Fant and Barbara Jackson, all of Uniontown, Pa.; a special grandson, Carmen Jones; 33 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Elizabeth L. McFarland and Ellen L. Smith of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Essie Franklin of Detroit, Mich.; a special nephew, Gerome Fant of Monroeville, Pa.; special grandsons, Rogene “Tink” Truly Jr., Lamont Shannon Jr., and Jody L. Ford; and a loyal friend, Rogene Truly Sr., all of Uniontown; and cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received in the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main St., Uniontown, Pa., today from 5 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Leonard Tucker officiating. Interment will be in Middle Churches Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, Pa.
