Three charged in Brownsville burglary ring

By Christine Haines 2 min read

BROWNSVILLE – Three men are in jail in connection with several break-ins at B&R Shirt Shack in Brownsville over the past two months. Brownsville police, assisted by the Centerville, West Brownsville, Luzerne Township and East Bethlehem Township police departments, on Tuesday arrested Harry King Sr., 57, of Mulligan Manor, Brownsville; Kenny King, 30, of Denbo; and Daniel Neil, 22, of 1 Bolivar St., Brownsville, on charges of theft, receiving stolen property, burglary and criminal conspiracy.

All three are being held at the Fayette County Prison after failing to post bond. Preliminary hearings for the three are scheduled for Wednesday before District Justice Herb Mitchell.

According to Brownsville police, John King gave them a written statement that he was given cigarettes by Harry King to take to another man in exchange for payment. John King told the police that Harry King said the cigarettes were taken in burglaries at the B&R Shirt Shack involving Kenny King and Danny Neil on two occasions.

The first incident occurred late April 7 or early April 8 allegedly involving Harry King and Danny Neil, police said. About $1,245 in cigarettes were removed from the B&R Shirt Shack that night.

The second incident was reported May 22. John King reportedly told police that in that incident, Harry King and Kenny King used a sledgehammer to break through a cement block wall to gain access to the store. Harry King allegedly served as a lookout while Kenny King removed about $2,048 in cigarettes.

According to Mayor Norma Ryan, items from the burglaries have been confiscated and are being held as evidence. Ryan said the arrests followed an extensive police investigation. “They are working hard and I can’t applaud them enough,” Ryan said. “What it’s made me realize is how often they work so hard yet get nowhere. I’m really proud of the department.”

The officers are continuing to investigate additional burglaries in the area.
