June 9, 2002 Early entrance to kindergarten announced

Frazier School District has announced kindergarten early entrance.

Parents of children whose birthdays fall between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31 of the school year may seek early entrance to kindergarten if their child can demonstrate readiness skills to the satisfaction of the superintendent, and if space is available.

The parent may petition the school to deviate from the chronological age requirement by writing to the school principal. The school principal and K-12 Curriculum Supervisor will ascertain the child’s readiness skills by means of a kindergarten readiness instrument. The principal and supervisor will then issue a written report to the superintendent, who shall then approve or disapprove the parents’ petition for early entrance.

The parents will be responsible for a fee for administering the instrument. The fee will be waived if the parent(s) is/are eligible for the federal Free Lunch Program. Letters of petition for Early Kindergarten Entrance are due to the school principal by June 30 of each year.

Campbell’s labels sought

As part of its 2002-2003 Labels for Education collection drive, Cardale Parent/Teacher Organization is calling on parents, teachers and friends in the community to help support its Cardale Elementary School students’ efforts to collect labels to redeem for free educational merchandise.

By collecting and redeeming Campbell company product labels, students can earn free educational merchandise such as computers, audio/visual equipment, sports equipment, reference books and even a mini-van. And, new this year, a variety of musical instruments have been added to the list of available items.

Drop off sites are Cardale Elementary, Allison 2 Post Office and Republic Library.
