Uniontown Abstract opens office
Tri-County Abstract has opened an office at 46 N. Gallatin Ave., Uniontown. The firm, which commenced business in May 1981 and has been reconstructed to become a growing home-town service designed to accommodate our local residents, also has offices at 49 Belmeade Terrace, Uniontown.
Tri-County Abstract is a licensed title insurance agent for United General Title Insurance Co., covered by Errors and Omissions Insurance. It is prepared to handle real estate transactions for individuals, as well as local lending institutions, any lender outside the area and their clients.
After receiving a title order, Tri-County Abstract’s services include title abstracting and searches, obtaining lien letters and tax certificates, procuring payoff statements, closing and settlement of the real estate transaction or loan, issuance of Title Insurance Policies for lenders and/or owners.
Among Tri-County Abstract’s clients are National City Bank of Pennsylvania, Pacific Guarantee Mortgage, IndyMac, Cendant Mortgage, Prime Mortgage and others.
Fees for services are controlled by the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance, therefore no closing fees are assessed in any of the transactions.

Utility improves system
Allegheny Power, the energy delivery business of Allegheny Energy Inc., spent $154 million in 2001 to ensure reliable electric service to its customer. The work included inspection and maintenance of equipment, tree trimming near power lines, upgrading or replacing overhead wires and underground cables, and inspecting and replacing utility poles.

The company has invested more than $200,000 to ensure the reliability of electric service to customers in Bristoria, Allepo, Dep Valley, and nearby communities throughout western Greene County. In addition, the utility has completed or has ongoing work to improve service quality in selected locations near Carmichaels, Rices Landing, Sycamore and Route 21 east of Waynesburg.
The work includes upgrading existing conductors, installing additional circuit protection devices such as fuses and reclosers, and adding conductors to meet the growing demand.
