Michael Kovach, 91 years, a Lake County resident for 51 years living in Mentor, Ohio, who previously lived in New Salem, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, in Lake East Hospital, Painesville, Ohio. He was born February 11, 1911, in Millers Farm, near Uniontown, Pennsylvania, son of the late Michael and Mary Kovach.

Michael was a member of St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Church, Broadview Heights, Ohio, former member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Mentor, Ohio, parishioner of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, Parma, Ohio, and member of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, New Salem, Pennsylvania.

In his leisure time he enjoyed his Family. He was an outdoorsman and loved gardening.

While living in Pennsylvania, he worked in the Dearth Coal Mine and the Ronco Mine and also worked on the Family Farm.

After moving to Mentor, he worked at Tapco Plant of TRW, Euclid, Ohio, for one year, worked at Gerard K. Klyn Nurseries in Mentor, Painesville, and Perry for over 20 years, worked for the Mentor City Schools for six years, and retired from the Mentor City Schools in 1976.

He was the beloved husband of the late Helen E. (nee Karaffa) Kovach.

He was the dear Father of Donald M. Kovach and wife, Winifred, of Mars, Pennsylvania, Robert J. Kovach and wife, Bettie Anne, of Geneva, Ohio, Richard A. Kovach and wife, Jody Clair, of Concord Township, Ohio, and Jan M. Hawkins and husband, Darrell, of Alexandria, Kentucky; beloved Grandfather of Scott Kovach, Danielle Oke, Donald Mark Kovach, David Andrew Kovach, David Michael Kovach, Doreen Mary Oke, Matthew John Kovach, Kelly S. Hill, Adam R. Hawkins, and Robert R. Lamb; the Great Grandfather of 10; Brother of John Kovach (deceased), Mary Conklin (deceased), Andrew Kovach of Hershey, Pennsylvania, Jane Grote, Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Ann Cassett (deceased), Margaret Reynolds of Florida, and Steve Kovach (deceased). He is also survived by a dear Family Friend, Irene S. Pollock.

Family will receive Friends at the McMAHON-COYNE-VITANTONIO FUNERAL HOME, 38001 Euclid Avenue, Willoughby, Ohio, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Parastas Service on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Funeral Service on Tuesday, June 11, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Church, 5025 East Mill Road, Broadview Heights, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. John Memorich officiating.

Graveside Service on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
