Gertrude E. Emerick, 92, of South Connellsville, Pa., died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, in Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. She was born May 19, 1910, in Connellsville, a daughter of the late Fred Thomas and Harriet L. Leighty Piper.

Gertrude was a longtime resident of South Connellsville, and was a member of the Albright United Methodist Church in South Connellsville.

She is survived by her son, Robert A. Emerick and his wife, Betty R. of Uniontown; her grandchildren, Michael R. Emerick and his wife, Pattie of Irvine, Calif., and Thomas M. Emerick and his wife, Melissa of Chesapeake, Va.; a brother, Earl H. Piper and his wife, Betty of Bradenton, Fla.; a sister, Gretta Byrne and her husband, Frank of Haines City, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alton T. Emerick in 1977; and a brother, Fred T. Piper.

Family and friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green St., Connellsville, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m., in the funeral home, with the Rev.
