CONNELLSVILLE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 711 S. Pittsburgh St., will hold Vacation Bible School the week of June 17. Registration is from 9 to 9:30 a.m. on Monday. FAIRCHANCE FREE METHODIST CHURCH, 52 S. Morgantown St., will hold Vacation Bible School June 17-21 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. for children age 3 through those who have completed the sixth grade. FORT BURD CHURCH UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, located next to Brownsville General Hospital, will host the Joint Vacation Bible School with Calvin and Pleasant View Presbyterian churches at Fort Burd, June 24-28 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Items needed are cookies empty cereal boxes, tissue boxes, peanut butter jars and toilet paper rolls.

LOVE OUTREACH CHURCH, 101 Peach Lane, Village of Phillips, Uniontown, will host Vacation Bible School June 17-21 from 9:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. The theme is “Faith Mountain, An Extreme Adventure With Jesus.’ The week includes extreme fun and games, campsite crafts, Bible stories and snacks. Mountain goat Cliff is the mascot.

Youth camp will be held immediately following Vacation Bible School for youths age 12 and up. They can spend the week on the church campground. Sleeping arrangements have been made. Showers are available. Crafts, games and worship will take place. Check-in time for campers will be 9 a.m. Monday, June 17.

The Rev. Roger Thrower, senior Pastor of New Hope Foursquare Church in Fairmount, W.Va., will be the guest speaker at the 6 p.m. worship service. He and his wife Heather are currently the Northeast regional representatives for The Cleansing Stream Ministry.

The Psalmist anointing and his gifted song writing have released healing to the Body of Christ. The title song of his latest CD, “God Is My Redeemer,” has been featured on an episode of “Touched By An Angel.” This song is frequently played on He’s Alive Radio and last year was in the top 100 of Praise and Worship songs played in the country.

PLEASANT VIEW PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, located two miles west of Smock at the intersection of the Pleasant View and Royal roads, will be in its summer Sunday schedule continuing all summer through Sunday, Aug. 25 with church school classes 9 to 9:45 a.m. and worship service from 10 to 11 a.m.

The church will mark the 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time in the 10 a.m. worship service. The guest worship leader will be the Rev. Carole Isley Corey, who is the Associate for Pastor Care of Redstone Presbytery. Organist for the service will be Sandra Leichliter and special music will be provided by The Father’s Day Choir. Acolytes will be Elliott Patterson and Joshua Harvey; the greeter will be Carole Rittenhouse and the ushers will be Bill Williams, Emma Lee and Joe and Mary Peroni. A supervised nursery for preschool children is provided during worship.

Every Sunday this summer, children and youths will learn in a different way in Sunday school, using WoRM (Workshop Rotation Model). Continuing through Sunday the church will learn in unusual ways about Holy Communion. The schedule: Sunday, art; June 23, computers; June 30, drama; July 7, music; and July 14, cooking. For the remainder of the summer, they start all over again on another subject. This is for preschoolers through high school students every Sunday in June, July and August from 9 to 9:45 a.m.

ROSCOE PRESYBTERIAN CHURH, 300 Main St., Roscoe, will hold its summer casual worship service beginning at 9:15 a.m. with a continental breakfast served in the church manse. Hostess this week is Penny Stanick. The service begins in the church sanctuary at 9:45 a.m. with special music provided by Tina Hixenbaugh Bolin, the church organist. The sermon, “Follow Me” based on the Gospel of Mathew 9: 9-13 will be given by the Rev. Dr. John Rankin.

The service will include the reception of new members as the communicants/confirmation class is acknowledged. The church session will meet with these young people to receive them into the congregation at 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Next Sunday the church will celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism at its during its worship service.

ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, Uniontown, announces “Mary, Mirror of Prayer,’ will be the title of a week-long parish retreat Monday, June 24 through Friday, June 28 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Parish Center at 88 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Described as “a retreat for those who can’t leave home,’ the experience is a way for those who might not otherwise be able to go away on retreat the opportunity to experience a continued period of sacred silence, spiritual conferences, the sacrament of penance, morning prayer and devotions. The theme will focus on reflection upon the mysteries in the life of Jesus – the Annunciation, the birth of Jesus, the Presentation, the Crucifixion and Pentecost as reflected in the life of his mother and how her example can be a model for the way to deeper prayer.
