Monthly report
Mayor Samuel K. Glisan issued the following police activity report for the month of May in which officers responded to 21 calls with a breakdown being: two reportable accidents, three domestic animal complaints, three assist other agencies, two criminal mischief, two driving under the influence, four harassment, two miscellaneous, one pursuit, one traffic parking complaint, and one Act 64 traffic stop. Also in May officers issued three non-traffic citations, five traffic citations, seven written warnings, five parking warnings and logged 1.034 miles on patrol vehicles.

Burglary
State police are warning residents in the area of Route 819 in Upper Tyrone Township to be on the lookout for a man claiming to be with the utility company after an incident at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said that a dark skinned male, possibly Hispanic, with short dark hair and mustache, average height and weight wearing a long sleeve flannel shirt and speaking in broken English, arrived at a home along Route 819 posing as an employee of the electric company. The suspect told the resident that construction down the road had damaged wires and sent the homeowner to watch basement wires for smoke while he removed money from the upstairs. The suspect was last seen driving a dark blue car.
Police are warning residents to verify the identity of people claiming to be with any utility company and if still in doubt to check with the utility company or call police. Residents with any information on this or similar incidents are asked to call trooper R. Loving at 724-929-6262.

Charges pending
Charges of driving under the influence of alcohol are pending against a 26 year-old Vanderbilt man after police stopped him for allegedly committing several traffic violations and allegedly found him in possession of an open container of beer on Route 819 at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Man cited
Gerald Morgan Jr. of Star Junction was issued a citation for criminal mischief after he allegedly struck Kimberly Tompkins vehicle with unknown objects causing damage to the front quarter panel and windshield at 1:25 p.m. Sunday.

Warrant served
City police arrested Ronald Means of 32 E. Highland Ave. on a warrant in which Pittsburgh police charged him with indecent assault and parental endangerment of a child. He was arrested Thursday morning at a residence, police said.

ATV incident
After responding to a report of all-terrain vehicles being ridden on Lincoln and Esther streets at 8:38 p.m. Wednesday, city police said a white male riding a red ATV turned from Cleveland Street onto Lincoln without stopping and almost hit a patrol car. The ATV fled at a high rate of speed down Lincoln Street, crossed Gallatin Avenue and turned onto Monroe Avenue before escaping from the city.

Man cited
City police cited David James Anderson, 28, of 1233 National Pike East, Hopwood, for public drunkenness, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and harassment following a Wednesday evening incident at 15 Miller Ave.

Bottle exploded
A bottle filled with drain cleaner and aluminum foil that was left on the porch of Jane Fitzpatrick’s West Askren Street home Wednesday morning exploded, city police said. No injuries were reported.

Two cars collide
City police said Tricia Crozier, 33, of Lincoln Street and Ermine Rowe, 60, of Lenox Street were involved in a two-car accident at the intersection of Justin and Jacob streets Wednesday at 8:50 a.m. Crozier was treated at Uniontown Hospital.

Ring stolen
State police in Uniontown said Robert Cupp, 82, of Areford Street reported the theft of a diamond ring from his home sometime before June 6.

Threats reported
Terry Newland, 34, of Searights Village said a man known to him pulled a small handgun and threatened to kill him at 2 p.m. Tuesday, state police in Uniontown said.

Scam possible
State police in Uniontown said area residents, especially senior citizens, should be alert to individuals going door to door attempting to sell lightening rod systems. Police said they are investigating this as a possible scam.

City police said Marlene M. Lee of Lenox Street reported Thursday morning that her son Derrick Bradley has been missing for three days.
