Lillian Davis Hill of Palos Verdes, Calif., died May 3, 2002, in Redondo Beach, Calif. Mrs. Hill was born on her family’s frontier farm in North Missouri, in 1918.

As a graduate of the Kansas City Missouri Teachers College, she taught in a one-room country school for a short period of time prior to World War II. During the war, she joined the engineering department of North American Aviation in Kansas City, and then moved to California, to continue work with that company in Inglewood. It was there that she met and married a young engineer, Alex Richard Hill and shortly after their wedding, she returned to her teaching career. As a kindergarten teacher, she served in the Lawndale School District for 30 years, where in 1974, she was honored to be named “Teacher of the Year”. She loved her work with kindergarten pupils and took great pride in teaching each of them to read while in her classroom.

She leaves behind one brother, William Davis; eight nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2002, at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of Green Ridge Memorial Park, with the Rev. Jeffrey Welsh officiating. She will be interred beside her husband in the memorial park. Arrangements are under the direction of the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green St., Connellsville. www.brooksfuneralhomes.com
